Research Scientist for the Violence Prevention ProjectWe are
hiring a Research Scientist for a NIH-funded project that involves
an effectiveness trial of a violence prevention project for 9th
graders in the Chicago Public Schools. This is a 15-session
cognitive-behavioral intervention, delivered by social workers in
school settings. Prior efficacy trials with this culturally
modified preventive intervention for African American students have
been found to be effective.General SummaryThe Research Scientist
will assist Dr. Robinson and Dr. Jason with tasks as needed on a
violence prevention project in the Chicago Public
Schools.Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervises research staff and volunteers.
- Oversees relationships with schools for data collection.
- Helps with analysis and interpretation of the data.
- Assists in research and the writing of manuscripts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.Education & Experience
- 1+ years of research experience.Preferred Requirements
- Research experience in a related social science
field.Managerial Responsibilities
- The Research Scientist will supervise project staff and
volunteers.Other Skills & Abilities Required
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and data
management.
- Experience with advanced statistical packages (i.e., SPSS,
RSiena, Mplus, etc.) preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Participation in weekly project meetings.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet
