The Engineering Technical Specialist will be a key role in the success of our engineering team and will based out of our plant in Mundelein, IL. This position will recommend and implement methods for improving worker efficiency, reduce waste of materials and utilities and interact with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations. Study utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve operations. Provide specialized technical support to the production area for the injection molding equipment, building support infrastructure, inline automation and other electromechanical equipment. Establish key process controls for all plastics machinery and ancillary equipment. Facilitate the process of design, engineering, validation, maintenance and spares programs and ongoing technical support MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and revise business processes and coordinate technology-based solutions. Collaborate with functional areas to develop and deliver process plans and changes. Work with vendors to obtain required documentation for effective commissioning of equipment and development of spares programs.
  • Analyze work force, facility layout and operational data such as production costs, flow charts and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Understand, document, and maintain optimal equipment installation, maintenance, and usage throughout the plastics manufacturing network. Perform detailed installation, operational, and performance qualifications related to performance, and coordinate validation activity.
  • Collect data and perform engineering studies including process waste evaluation, time studies, value stream maps, efficiency, process capability studies, controls charts and others.
  • Assist in the evaluation, development and implement Lean Manufacturing in all processes to improve efficiency, increase productivity or improve quality. Study utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve operations.
  • Define, implement, and maintain the SOPs that govern equipment; inventory control programs for spares and establish maintenance programs; optimal plastics operational requirements for installed equipment.
  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment. Interact with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
  • Work with vendors to coordinate installation, refurbishment and repair of equipment. Manage and maintain with maintenance effective and accurate spares inventory, usage and machine maintenance and repair history.

      • Associate%26rsquo;s degree in engineering or science field or equivalent work experience. Work Experience
        • At least 2 years of engineering related experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
          • Technical writing ability.
          • Knowledge and experience using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
          • Excellent statistical/mathematical aptitude.
          • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS Education
