Director, Transformational Change Management

Job Summary

Leads the transformational change management center of expertise at Walgreens, and increases Walgreens' overall change capability, including change leadership and tactical change management implementation. Deploys expertise and resources to help the business develop critical capabilities using a tailored organizational development (OD) and change management methodology. Responsible for ensuring that critical strategic and operational programs get the OD and change management support they require, and guides the ongoing evolution of OD and change management infrastructure, including methodology, resources and processes. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Organizational Development and Change Management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assesses Change Management service requirements across Walgreens to ensure strategic programs are receiving the change management support to achieve and sustain their business goals.
  • Owns and continuously improves a consistent transformational change management methodology for Walgreens. Develops and deploys infrastructure that accelerates the capability of Walgreens business units to be self-sufficient when applying a transformational change management methodology to business plan and programs.
  • Creates awareness across Walgreens and promotes the value, impact and services of the Change Management COE, as well as other COEs in the Talent, Organizational Development and Learning organization.
  • Advances and optimizes change management solutions by developing change strategies that align with best practices for key strategic and operational programs.
  • Guides quality and consistency of change management services provided across Walgreens. Provides support to programs to assess the effectiveness of organizational change management across Walgreens.
  • Collaborates with business clients and HR partners to facilitate strategic programs by assessing the impacts from changes to workflow, resources, roles and behaviors. Defines and scopes the needed change management work to achieve intended business goals. Defines a comprehensive change management plan to assist strategic programs to deliver on those goals.
  • Collaborates with business units and strategic programs to guide their change efforts, including but not limited to system, process and organizational changes. Identifies program risks and issues and works with program stakeholders to define a plan to mitigate the identified issues.
  • Serves as thought leader for the Transformational Change Team, other HR COEs and business units.
  • Supports HR stakeholders and COEs to facilitate stakeholder engagement, strategic planning and implementation of organization process and culture shifts resulting from the company's overall people strategy.
  • Develops, mentors, guides and manages Transformational Change team members, ensuring the development of employees through orientation, training, developmental goals and mentoring, and ongoing process improvement; improves morale and motivation.
  • Develops and manages appropriate departmental expense and capital budget.
  • Provides critical thinking and impact by helping to link the company's strategic agenda to the resulting implementation plan. Provides guidance and counsel in development of long-range plans involving program development, resource allocation, work plans, timelines, and financial outcomes.
  • Improves plan implementation by ensuring strategic integration to the PMO, Walgreens Lean Six Sigma, OD and Change Management ensuring seamless service delivery and hand-offs from program formulation to implementation.

    Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of experience in organization development, change management, or human resources OR High School/GED and at least 9 years of experience in organization development, change management, or human resources.
    • At least 5-yrs. of experience with change management, including change strategy, organizational change enablement or change capability development.
    • At least 3-yrs. of experience guiding large-scale transformation projects.
    • Experience with project management (planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
    • Experience presenting and reporting on project plans and cost benefit analyses to stakeholders, executives and senior stakeholders.
    • At least 2-yrs. of experience contributing to financial decisions in the organization.
    • At least 3-yrs. of guidance, indirect guidance and/or cross-functional team guidance.
    • Willing to travel up to/at least 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
      Preferred Qualifications
      • At least 10-yrs. of experience of organization development with experience in the disciplines of one or more of the following: change management methodology, job/role/organization design, marketing or communication, training/performance support, and/or organizational readiness.
