Job SummaryResponsible for the development of the Corporate long-range strategic growth plan focusing on the integration of initiatives at the market level; providing unbiased, analytical research and strategies to support the execution of Corporate goals in markets and providing growth opportunities and strategic business development including new market and new business entries and concept positioning.Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)Directs unbiased analytical research and strategies to determine growth potential for new and existing Walgreens markets by means of market share penetration, competitive analysis and geographic and demographic analyses. May focus on research activities of the GIS research staff or may focus on Healthcare research.Develops strategies recommendations, and translates them into actionable tactics and objectives regarding necessary changes in the market OR regarding new data sources and methods to provide analysis to better serve the customers and to assess the competition. May provide insightful, measurable, and impactful scientific findings to support the overall corporate goals.Ensures the development of analytical methods, metrics and processes to quantify business drivers in order to identify opportunities to increase growth, market share, and develop new markets OR ensures understanding and analysis of the spatial analysis factors resulting in better decision making.Collaborates and meets with other departments and executives to deliver comprehensive and compelling recommendations for strategic initiatives with a positive impact on market penetration and expansion OR to create and prioritize geographic information and analysis needs. May collaborate with IT to build, design and support the Enterprise GIS platform.Provides advanced leadership and advice to client groups across the organization exhibiting subject matter expertise in areas including the knowledge and understanding of corporate goals, market issues and the impact on Walgreens; knowledge and understanding of the client perspective; understanding of healthcare initiatives and opportunities and/or leads support effort of the analysis of the market strategy of mergers and acquisitions.Transfers knowledge across functional lines, promoting teamwork, and empowerment to achieve established objectives. May act as an agent of change to quickly and nimbly alter course of action to avoid failure to achieve anticipated results; ensure challenging goals are turned into action plans; manages competing priorities in a thoughtful and well organized manner.Develops specific objectives and/or processes focused on innovation. This is the 28th consecutive year that WBA or its predecessor company, Walgreen Co., has been named to the list.More company information is available at QualificationsBachelor's Degree and at least 7 years of external experience in market research, GIS, Spatial technologies, data sets or systems development OR at least 5 years of experience internally at Walgreens in in market research, GIS, Spatial technologies, data sets or systems development.Experience using business analytical skills including facilitating requirements sessions and documenting activity workflows and business requirements.Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).Advanced level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: changing picture styles, customizing animation and/or setting automatic slide timings).Advanced level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: adding developer tab, creating a macro, formatting table style, inserting comments and/or creating a mail merge).Experience using analytical systems and methodology of research data, systems and techniques.At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.Willing to travel at least 30% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree / MBAExperience developing and executing corporate goals.Experience collaborating with internal resources and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
