Relocation available for this position Summary: The Director evaluates the strategic implications of channel dynamics and evolving market access landscape to effectively price, contract, and identify value-creating opportunities. Accountable to the Lundbeck team for being a subject matter expert on pharmaceutical pricing, contracting, value, and gross to net (GTN) implications, across the product lifecycle. The Director is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and supporting traditional, and creative innovative pricing approaches. Responsible for analyzing and providing recommendations for potential market access contract offerings. Provide analytics and strategic support to the market access functions, working closely with finance, accounting, government affairs, marketing, sales, and legal. Essential Functions: LEAD:

  • Build Lundbeck's pricing capability, through implementation of industry-leading approaches
  • Lead the implementation of an innovative new system for gross to net tracking and forecasting
  • Contract negotiations with payers, specialty pharmacy, specialty distribution, and GPOs directly and in collaboration with payer field team
  • Develop contract proposals (financial models, GTN implications, and ROI analysis for evaluation) and effective negotiation strategy
  • Establish insightful payer, clinic, and hospital contracting analytics
  • Provide insights to the business to help improve forecasting, pricing, and contracting decisions and general business planning
  • Government affairs policy modeling and impact to Lundbeck
  • Support market access in providing insights to product pricing, indication sequencing, launch price targets and discounts
  • Leads and develops direct reports, driving a high performance culture with strong accountability DEVELOP & IMPLEMENT:
    • In collaboration with legal, develop compliant, consistent and timely contracts to support business objectives
    • Commission vendors on strategic pricing research, to help enhance department pricing structure, capabilities, R&R, insights, modeling, methodologies, frameworks, database and forecasting/tracking tools
    • Lead the new process and implementation of analytic modeling tools, processes, databases, information sources, tracking mechanisms, KPIs, templates and analytic platforms COLLABORATE:
      • Collaborates in close partnership with legal, finance, accounting, operations, payer field team, payer marketing, brand leads, and government affairs
      • Partners with accounting to measure success of contracts and evaluate and communicate contract performance to internal stakeholders
      • Partners with accounting to assist in tracking and reporting of ASP and implications
      • Collaborates with stakeholders to review GTN practices, identify opportunities to save, and establish best practices to make tangible improvements to P&L
      • Other duties as assigned. Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
        • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech and/or healthcare industry
        • 3+ years of experience in Market Access, strategic pricing, and/or relevant payer function
        • An awareness of GTN drivers, government price calculations and impact to the business (ASP, BP, etc.)
        • Strong presentation and communication skills - with exceptional aptitude for learning quickly and ability to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders
        • Ability to network across a broad internal and external matrix organization and the skills necessary to form strong, productive partnerships and build consensus and acumen
        • Strong understanding of payer and distribution channels (commercial, government, SP, GPOs, etc.)
        • Strategic thinker - must be able to see operational trends, and activities and relate their impact to the bigger strategic picture (applying potential legislative changes across the business, understanding GTN drivers and explaining to the business, contracting effects on business, etc.) Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
          • MBA or other relevant master's degree
          • 3+ years contracting, with hands on experience writing, executing, and negotiating contract language
          • 3+ years modeling payer scenarios/government policy changes Travel:
            • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 15% domestically. International travel may be required.
