IT Network Engineer

JOB SUMMARY
The Network Engineer II Ops is a key member on Medline%26rsquo;s Network Core Operations Team. The main function of this position is to help maintain availability throughout the network and participate in troubleshooting operational issues. The role will collaborate with vendors, operational staff and peer organizations to ensure the stability and integrity of Medline%26rsquo;s Network infrastructure. In addition, it is vital that the Network Engineer successfully integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities.
Work Location
(This position is a hybrid remote work position. While most work can be done remotely, attendance in a Chicago area office may be required on short notice (Mundelein, IL) . Individuals must be located within a reasonable commute distance to accommodate)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews and responds to trouble tickets generated for the team by the corporate help desk; works with end users through resolution as necessary.
Manage the continuous operation of the Medline%26rsquo;s enterprise network including inventory, patching and code management.
Develop and recommend strategies for network growth, datacenter network security and enhancements by maximizing functionality of network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless infrastructure and firewalls.
Participates in regular meetings and conference calls with customers and IS staff to help qualify opportunities and technical solutions for optimizing the network. Offers proactive suggestions in optimizing the network.
Acts as a point of escalation for other IS teams regarding network infrastructure issues, Tier II/III line of support for Network Core trouble tickets.
Analyzes performance data and metrics, identifies problem areas and provides actionable insight to problem resolution. Provide reporting documentation as needed.
Develops and documents models, plans, diagrams, illustrations, and procedures in support of engineering activities and network related business initiatives.
Drives issues through closure engaging all appropriate cross-team resources.
Performs complex and routine maintenance tests for designated areas of engineering; identifies, isolates, and escalates issues to appropriate personnel.
Utilize SIEM tools as needed to analyze network traffic and resolve issues.
Participates in regular meetings and conference calls with customers and IS staff to help qualify opportunities and technical solutions for optimizing the network.
Participates in off-hours support rotation of designated network resources.
Collaborate with other team members for peer review and execution with the ability to mentor junior level engineers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or similar, or equivalent relevant work experience.
CCNA required, CCNP preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years%26rsquo; experience providing operational support for predominately Cisco networking technologies and infrastructures in a large enterprise environment.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to troubleshoot LAN/WAN & application performance problems to resolution.
Advanced experience with WAN technologies such as MPLS, Ethernet, T1%26rsquo;s, and LTE.
Advanced knowledge of Cisco equipment (Routers, Nexus switches, ASA VPN Appliance, Wireless controllers).
Advanced knowledge of routing (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP and VRF). Strong knowledge of VOIP, including QoS on LAN and WAN. Prior Experience with Security, Layer Two & Three Switching, VLANs, VPN%26rsquo;s, Cisco ISE, Cisco Wireless.
Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with internal and external business/technical teams.
Ability to work out of any of Medline%26rsquo;s Chicagoland area facilities on any given day.
Up to 10% overnight travel may be required.
Experience with Cisco iWAN, SDWAN solution.
Experience with F5 load balancers.
Experience with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI).
Avaya Enterprise knowledge a plus.
